1.     Name (first only) and city/town you live in?

2.     What you sell and why?

I sell digital products – everything from digital scrapbooking papers, artwork, customizable posters/prints, and more! I had been doing graphic design in my full-time job as well as some freelance work for the last 10 years, and I have always wanted to start my own business. As I was coming to the end of my maternity leave, it seemed like a good time to give it a try.

3.     When and how you got started?

One of the things I had been doing over the last few years was creating digital scrapbook pages – first for myself, then for friends and family, and eventually I was selling them to other people as well. I wanted everything to be my own designs, so I started creating all of my own digital papers, embellishments, etc. I figured why not sell some of the papers and other items that I was creating, so I opened my Etsy shop in September 2011.

4.     How did you decide on your shop name?

Well, it is not the most creative name, lol! My last name starts with a K, hence MichelleK Designs.

5.     Is there an item in your shop you enjoyed making the most and why?

I really enjoy creating all the items in my shop, but I especially like creating artwork for kids—probably because I use a lot of it in my own kids’ rooms.

6.     What’s your favourite part of the selling experience?

I love doing custom work and hearing some of the fun ways that people would like to customize my artwork

7.     Do you have a day job?

My maternity leave is up in January, but I can’t see myself going back to anything full-time. I’m really enjoying my shop on Etsy and hope to pick up some other graphic design projects, as well as spend time with my 2 kids.

8.     Are there other crafts you’d like to try?

I love crafting! I wish I had more time and space to do it! I do some card making and traditional scrapbooking. I also like to draw and sew – all of which I’d love to do more of! Mostly these days I do crafts with my 3 year old, lol!

9.           Please provide 5 random facts about yourself to help the team get to know you better. Thank you!

-I have lived in Alberta my whole life

-I have 2 kids, aged 3 and 9 months, and 2 dogs (almost as much work as my kids, lol!)

-I started a new Etsy shop with my mom called Inklings Posters

-I would love to go on vacation to Hawaii one day

-I love chocolate!
